My First Singing Experience On Stage With Devan!!

On Dec 5th 2003, Friday at 7.30pm, Two big stages were put up inside "Raja Muthaiyah Hall", Chennai....On one stage it was My Bro and Sis in law standing for their Wedding Reception and on the other stage was U.K.Murali's orchestra singing New Hit songs! I had planned to sing a song for my bro on his special occasion bugged my dad to arrange Devan as the celebrity singer for that occasion coz he was my fav. singer and I just love his voice!..I wanted to sing atleast one song with him in my life! Dad met him personally and asked him to sing for my bro's reception and that was the greatest gift for me from my dad!..Two days before the marriage I went to U.K.Murali and told him that I was going to sing a song with Devan and I asked him to give me formal practice to sing a song.I decided to sing "Macareena" from the movie"Kushi".Hmm coming back to dec 5th, I was standing at the entrance of the hall greeting all my relatives and friends ,waiting for Devan's arrival and suddenly one guy with white shirt and blue jean entered the hall and to my surprise it was Devan whom I just admired as a good singer , a celebrity!..I never get excited when I see a celebrity... but for the first time I got excited..It was 8pm Devan sang his first song "Oh Maria" ..U.K.Murali was standing on the stage , he looked at me from the stage and showed signs saying that next is "Macareena" song !..I stood still in the entrance, throat went dry, hands started to shiver, legs finding place to sit!..I was shocked to see myself in that state coz I have sung and compered lots of times..but this was the first time I felt the stage- fear!.I thought for a second "Am I capable? or Is my voice good enough to sing with him on stage?" .I was still thinking and suddenly My bro Satish caught my hands and dragged me all the way to the stage coz the next track was starting..and to my shock I was standing next to the stage next to him..along with Murali and Chorus Singers...and murali announced to the whole crowd that the Groom's Sis was going to sing ..3000 ppl were there , everybody's eye focused on me..ppl refused to go to the stage to give presents for the newly wedded couple, the camera man focused on me and I saw myself in all the TV across the hall, My Mom and my aunt's who were greeting ppl turned away from the entrance and looked at me without caring about the ppl entering in..the ppl in the hall stayed still for a moment and Devan started the song and my part came...I felt that the world was going to end!.I just closed my eyes tight and just sang the song...I didn't even notice what was going around....exactly 4mins and 35 secs..the song was over, all I heard was a loud applause from ppl all around in that hall..my brother from the stage looked at me and smiled with appreciation! I just got down the stage....My cousins ran and said " U Rocked"!!..My aunt gave me a kiss and said it was amazing!Everybody appreciating me!..I was very happy..I Felt as if I achieved something!....Almost everyone from that crowd appreciated me that day..I still remember few business men smiling at me and asking "Ma'am would u plz put an autograph for us?"

Even today when I see the video I laugh at myself for the fear I had!!
